Vintage Underwriters is a family owned and operated Managing General Agent and Surplus Lines Agent, licensed in Texas and Louisiana, focusing on placement of Excess and Surplus Lines Accounts as well as Admitted. Dedicated to maintaining experienced insurance professionals, underwriting for strong stable markets and providing excellent service to retail agents. Our success lies in our philosophy, our personnel and the agents for which we serve.
Founded in 1980, our company provides retail agents with a variety of highly rated insurance products. We hold many in-house binding authorities with numerous top-rated carriers and brokerage contracts for middle market and hard to place accounts.
Meet the Vintage Team
William Edmondson – Founder/Owner, President
Bill Edmondson is co-founder and co-owner of Vintage Underwriters, Inc., with more than 50 years of Underwriting experience under his belt working for Insurance Companies, Independent Agents and Managing General Agencies before starting Vintage Underwriters, Inc. Along with wife, Becky, Bill established the business in 1980, and since that time they have focused on providing quality service to customers and ethical behavior. Bill has been a Texas Master Naturalist since 2005. He has also established a Premium Finance Company, consulted in the set-up of two insurance agencies and served on their Boards of Directors. He has testified as an insurance expert on numerous occasions over the past 20 years and served on the Board of Directors for two insurance companies in the late 1980’s. Vintage Underwriters, Inc. is a member of T.S.L.A. (Texas Surplus Lines Association), WSIA (Wholesale & Specialty Insurance Association) and HIAA (Houston Independent Agents Association) where Bill served on the Casualty Committee.
Rebecca Edmondson – Founder/Owner, VP – Accounting
Becky Edmondson is co-founder and co-owner of Vintage Underwriters. She has worked in the industry for more than 45 years and has worked in all areas of the business from Office Manager and Accounting to Claims, and is a Texas Local Recording Agent. Becky and her husband Bill established Vintage Underwriters in 1980. She has a true heart for the community and has served in numerous leadership positions including President of the Westbury Civic Club, Co-President of the Westbury Super Neighborhood and is on the Board of Friends of Levitt Pavilion Houston. Becky has been a Texas Master Naturalist since 2004 and is a Founding Member of the Westbury Community Garden and Board Member of Willow Waterhole Greenspace Conservancy. She is a member of Leadership Houston Class XXIX and served on the Houston Clean City Commission representing District K from 2014-2022. When she is not working or out “hugging trees”, Becky enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren, relaxing at the beach, cheering on her beloved Astros and reading.
Mark Edmondson – VP – Underwriting
Mark Edmondson is passionate about the commercial insurance industry. A native Houstonian, he attended St. Thomas More Parish School, Strake Jesuit College Preparatory, Texas Tech and the University of St. Thomas. He joined Vintage Underwriters in 2002, learning the business from the ground up. Mark started in the file room, moving from reception and data entry to underwriting. He has served as an Underwriting Assistant, Underwriter, Underwriting Manager and now holds the position of VP of Operations. Mark enjoys baseball, gardening and building insurance products. Mark has a desire to build more programs and agent specific products to better serve Vintage Underwriters’ partner agencies.
Kathryn Noser – Business Development Director
Kathryn Noser joined the Vintage Underwriting team in November 2017. Prior to entering the insurance industry, she spent more than 15 years as a fundraiser, securing millions of dollars to support the missions of various healthcare organizations, and another 6 years working in Education, both as a teacher and an administrator. Kathryn received her B.A. in Speech Communications from Texas A&M University. She serves on the Charitable Projects Committee with IIAH, and is a Co-Chair of the TSLA Host Committee. Kathryn is active in the community on the board of the Westbury Area Improvement Corporation, as a member of the Bellaire Business Association, and serves as President of the Board of Directors for The Company OnStage, a nonprofit community theater in Southwest Houston. She is excited for the opportunity to work with Vintage’s partner agencies and carriers to develop strong, mutually beneficial relationships and a solid foundation for future growth.
Claudia Ruiz – Underwriter
Claudia Ruiz has been a part of the Vintage Team since 2010. She started as an assistant underwriter and 2 years later was promoted to Commercial Underwriter. She is in charge of quoting all new business submissions and renewal accounts. She determines policy terms and calculates premiums on the basis of actuarial, statistical and background information. She enjoys working with agents and building good and strong relationships with them. She is a graduate of Sam Houston State University with BA in Journalism. In her free time she enjoys spending quality time with her family.
Saby Gonzalez – Underwriter
Saby Gonzalez has been with the Vintage Underwriters team since 1998. Saby started working for Vintage Underwriters as a receptionist and has moved up the various positions until she reached Commercial Lines Property and Casualty Underwriter. Saby enjoys workings with Vintage Underwriters and the variety of scenarios that can happen in the insurance industry. Saby holds a BS in General Business. When outside of work, Saby enjoys spending time with her family.
Elsa Rivera – Underwriter
Elsa Rivera has been a part of the Vintage team since 2012. She started as an underwriting assistant and later moved up to Renewal Underwriter. She is now in charge of inspections and compliance for all commercial policies. She has been in the insurance industry for 10 years. This experience gave her the knowledge that helps not only our underwriters within our company, but also our agents. She is a proud Houstonian, and supporter of The Houston Texans, Rockets and Astros.
Jennifer Brown – Underwriter
Jennifer Brown is a native born Houstonian and a proud Texan. She studied Criminal Justice with a specialization in Juveniles and Psychology while working for a private school, which was a natural fit for her head for details, heart for social justice, and love of children. After graduation, she transitioned to helping homeowners by running an office for an emergency services company. From there, she moved to underwriting to help commercial customers with meeting their insurance needs by working at Vintage Underwriters. In her free-time, she enjoys relaxing with her family, kickboxing, and serving on the board of directors for a local community theater.
Tiffany Stirling-Frank – Assistant Underwriter
Tiffany Stirling-Frank has been with the Vintage Underwriters team since October 2016. Tiffany started working for Vintage Underwriters one week after she moved from California to Texas and is currently in training to become an Underwriter. Prior to working for Vintage, Tiffany worked for an insurance tracking company in California for 6 years and later for a wine distributor that shipped throughout the United States. During that time, she learned a lot about the wine industry and developed a love of wine. In her spare time, Tiffany enjoys spending time with family and friends.
Kashfia Basher – Underwriting Assistant
Kashfia Basher has been a part of the Vintage team since November 2019. She started out as an Underwriting Trainee in the processing department, clearing new business and working on processed policies. Most recently, she has moved to the underwriting department as an Underwriting Assistant, prepping and quoting renewal accounts. She has just finished her Associate of Arts in Computer Information Systems and will now be pursuing a Bachelor’s of Science in Computer Science. In her free time, she enjoys trying new restaurants and spending quality time with her family and 4 fur babies.
Renee Neely –Underwriting Assistant
Renee Neely joined Vintage in March 2022. Renee is a native Houstonian. She received her a B.S. degree in Psychology from the University of Houston, and then spent 15 years working with children with autism. The proud mother of twin boys, Renee enjoys spending her spare time with family and friends.
Cynthia Taunton –Underwriting Assistant
Cynthia Taunton joined Vintage in March 2022. Cynthia holds two degree – a BA in History which she received in 2008, and in 2020 she completed a BS in Finance. She spent 20+ years in the hospitality industry before deciding to change careers. In her spare time, Cynthia loves spending time with her dog, in her garden, and with her husband.
Sara Thornton – Underwriting Assistant
Sara Thornton joined the Vintage team in 2018. Sara has come from an insurance tracking background in California, then moved to Texas. She is an Underwriting Assistant with lots of interest of learning more aspects of the industry to further her career with Vintage Underwriters. Outside of work, Sara enjoys spending time with her family, friends, reading and watching her sons play baseball.
Sunshine Shilts – Claims/Accounting Assistant
Sunshine Shilts has been in the insurance industry for 17 years and a part of the Vintage team since 2009. She joined the team as a CSR and provided administrative support to the Vintage staff. She now handles commercial claims and serves as the accounting assistant. She is a proud mommy of one and enjoys spending her free time with family and friends.
Theresa Bosley – Business Development Manager
Theresa has joined the Business Development team in March 2021, bringing with her a strong work ethic, a track record of success in sales, a commitment to the community, and an effervescent personality. Theresa received her B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies from University of North Texas. She previously worked as an outside sales representative for Novartis Pharmaceuticals and Smucker Quality Beverage. Theresa’s genuine love of people is a perfect fit for developing strong relationships with our agents and making sure that we are providing the product your clients need, and the service you deserve.
